Veterans Day-NO SCHOOL
The SVC Cheerleading Advisors recently organized the very first SVC Cheer Showcase that was held at Unioto High School. There was no cost to attend the event, but donations were accepted at the door. All money raised from the donations went towards the Adena Cancer Center.
The event raised $1,500!
Thanks to all those that made a donation to the Adena Cancer Center and came out to support our SVC Cheerleaders!
Each nine weeks, students that have no grades below a "C", no discipline referrals, and have perfect attendance (medical absences excluded) can participate in the PBIS award for that nine weeks.
The first nine weeks award party was this afternoon. Students attending the event got to play a variety of games, listen to music, and eat pizza. The no cell phone policy was also lifted for those at the event. The main rule was to have fun!
Each nine weeks there will be a different reward for those that meet the criteria. The second nine weeks reward will be announced soon. Potential rewards for the remainder of the year could be bowling, a movie trip, Triple Crown, etc.
The high school and middle school Student Council members are working together for this year's food drive. Classrooms with the most canned foods (and other non-perishable items) win a donut party!
The Powder Puff game is this Sunday at 5:00 pm. Non-perishable food items will be collected for admittance and the concession will be open! Come out and support the participants!

All seniors that received Academic High Honors all four nine weeks of the 2022-2023 school year, will be called to the office after announcements. Bars will be given out to those students that have already received an academic letter. The whole list will be shared later today.
The first nine weeks PBIS award is this afternoon at 1 p.m. Those students invited to the pizza party and activities in the gym will be released at 1 p.m. We will be checking attendance when you arrive at the gym.
We have ordered a couple more bathroom occupancy signs. When they arrive later today, six students will be permitted at one time in the first floor bathroom.. Four people is the occupancy limit on the second floor bathroom, because they are smaller. The purpose of the occupancy limit is to cut down on the amount of students that want to go and hang out in the bathrooms in between classes. This will allow those students who are bothered by the large crowd of students standing around in the bathroom to use the restroom without that worry. We will continue to be proactive as a team. Students can be proactive as well.

We want to thank the Ross County Health Department for providing us with these yellow bracelets. Each bracelet states, "Stand Up, Speak Out Against Tobacco".
Vaping is a common problem in schools. There is also a lot of students that are bothered by the vaping addiction exhibited by some of their peers.
Students were encouraged today to grab a bracelet and wear it to show their support against vaping and other tobacco products. We had a lot of bracelets go quickly.
Students are encouraged to continue to wear their bracelets and try to help students that may be addicted to stop.
The Ross County Health District is also helping us with getting anonymous vape drop-off points installed. They could help a student, who is fighting an addiction, to dispose of it quickly.
Everybody can help with this problem. A lot of the students that get caught with vapes, get them from older individuals. Some are brought to school to be sold. If you are an individual giving a student a vape, think about the negative impact you are making on their life and potentially others.
Students that do get caught have been getting assigned to a four-day vaping course sponsored by PARS in another effort to help students turn the corner and break the habit.
Zane Trace High School Winter Sports Schedule
Description:
Zane Trace Stall Day is Thursday, November 9th, 2023! Students are able to bring in change/money in any form (pennies to dollar bills) to 'stall' class for the day. The students are to present the teacher with change at the start of class, and all classwork will be 'stalled' until the teacher is done counting money. Sometimes it takes one minute to count change, but we have seen students bring enough for the whole period. Once all change is counted, the teacher is allowed to begin the day's lesson.
Stall Day Purpose:
We have around 50 Zane Trace families (over 200 individuals) that need help this holiday season. The money raised from this fundraiser will buy the Thanksgiving AND Christmas dinners for these families. Thank you for helping your community, so that we may 'change' the season for the better!
The high school Student Council toured the Ohio Statehouse this morning! A special thanks to state senator, Shane Wilkin for meeting with our students and allowing us to visit the senate floor!
