10/3/2023 Announcements Anyone interested in joining the Zane Trace High School Quiz Bowl Team can bring their lunch to room 270 this Friday, October 6th for information and to practice with the buzzers and questions. There will be a MADE ambassador’s meeting on Wednesday in Mrs. Wolfe’s room. There is an FCA meeting today. Student Council members need to stop by Mrs. Morton’s room this week to pick up a permission slip. There will be a meeting for any student interested in powerlifting on Thursday, October 5th during lunch in the library. Shirt sizes will be collected and Zane Trace Powerlifting Spirit Wear order forms will be passed out. PRCTC representatives will be meeting with all sophomores this Friday, October 6th from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the high school gym. Google Classrooms have been created for the classes of 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027. All students have been sent an invite in their school email. Students attending PRCTC need to check their Zane Trace email account to accept the invite. Daily announcements, forms, and other items will be shared in the classrooms. If a student checks their Google Classroom, it will make it easy to keep up with anything going on at Zane Trace. It is also another way to receive forms if you are away from campus. If a student did not receive the invite, contact Mr. Jones at jjones@ztlsd.org.

Yet another IT student has achieved a remarkable feat by leveraging their newly acquired expertise in Microsoft Word, adding to the impressive achievements of this academic year. Hailey Lemley, a senior enrolled in Mrs. Thornton's IT class, secured a second-place ranking on a global scale. Her mastery allowed her to complete the tasks in an astonishing 1 minute and 42 seconds. Keep up the outstanding work, Hailey!

Recently, the aviation students at Zane Trace High School embarked on an educational journey focused on the operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), more commonly known as drones. Their week began with the successful completion of the TRUST certification, which stands for "The Recreational UAS Safety Test." This test is a newly established requirement for all recreational drone pilots in the United States, ensuring a sound understanding of aeronautical knowledge and safety before taking flight. These students obtained their TRUST certification through the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), an FAA-approved authority for administering the TRUST certification. With their certification in hand, they proceeded to learn the ins and outs of drone operation, starting with basic hovering techniques and progressing to advanced flight maneuvers. Before engaging in hands-on drone activities, the students delved into an exploration of the diverse types of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and their extensive applications in today's world and the future. The Aviation class is taught by Sarah Thornton, a satellite instructor for the Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center. Not pictured are students Vada Steiger-Ludlum and Jocelynn Simpson.

Parent Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes September 26, 2023 Our most recent meeting has resulted in several changes and/or projects that are in the works. The first project is a Career Day that will be held on Thursday, December 14th from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. We are looking for representatives from a wide variety of careers and colleges that would be willing to come talk to our students. Zane Trace High School Newsletter, Issue 3 Our Journalism class has developed their first newsletter! We have also attached Mrs. Myers new Counselor's Corner that will be attached to the newsletter. The newsletter will start popping up in locations throughout the community throughout the next week.

Our boys' golf team competed at the Division II Sectionals at the Jaycees Golf Course yesterday. They had a team score of 387 and finished 11th at sectionals. Jon Grondolsky had a score of 84, which qualified him for the Division II District Tournament that will be at Crown Hill on October 4th! Our boys' soccer team won, 3-0, over Lucasville Valley tonight! They are now 8-2 on the season.

Our girls' golf team competed at the Division II Girls Sectional Tournament at Buckeye Hills Country Club. Mary Helber had a score of 89, which qualified her for the Division II District Tournament! The district tournament will be held at the Jaycees Golf Course on October 3rd. Overall, the team had a score of 436 and finished 7th at sectionals.
