Zane Trace Elementary uses the Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) to help our students self regulate themselves while here at school. Student voice levels are assigned for whatever activity or wherever the students are in the building. The student PBIS matrix is taught to the students so they know what the expectations are during the school day. Teachers teach the system by modeling right and wrong behavior both. Videos have been made to help the students see the difference between what is right and wrong, and reviewing what PBIS behavior is and is not.
Teachers have been trained in the PAX behavior strategies to also maintain good behavior and choices during the school day. Harmonicas, PAX sticks, Beat the Clock, and Granny's Wacky Prizes are some of the strategies used to motivate students to do the right thing.
