The Zane Trace Local School District consists of one K-12 building with three schools: Elementary, Middle School and High School.

The Zane Trace Local School District is located five miles northeast of Chillicothe, Ohio, in rural Ross County. The district is comprised of the villages of Kingston, Hallsville, and Adelphi, as well as rolling countryside between the villages.
Zane Trace received the Momentum Award from the Ohio Department of Education in 2016.
Zane Trace Elementary was honored as a School of Promise and receives great support from our Parent Volunteer Group, Parent Teacher Organization, Athletic Boosters, Band Boosters, and local businesses. The Elementary conducts Math Night, Literacy Night, Family Night, and Success by Six.
The Zane Trace Middle School houses a Career Based Intervention Program, Vocational Agriculture, Homework Help and Big Brothers/Big Sister Program. The Middle School also offers a variety of fifteen elective courses. The Positive Behavior Support System was implemented last school year.
Zane Trace graduating seniors consistently rank among the top in the Southeast region in achievement. Forty percent of graduates in the class of 2017 continued their education at colleges/universities. Graduates earned $823,137 in scholarships. Zane Trace has had the highest ACT score in Ross County eight out of the last ten years.
The district supports learning with: Technology, Enrichment programs, Electives, Reflex Math, Lexia Reading and Latch key.
Other activities for students include: 32 boys’ and girls’ extra-curriculars and many more academic clubs.
Zane Trace Local Schools offer: proximity to highways, shopping, industrial parks, recreational parks, child care and the Appalachian Mountains.
